An Introduction to Systematic Review Methodology

  This workshop will provide an introduction to systematic reviews. It will use a combination of lectures and practical exercises in order to provide an understanding of systematic review methodology and critical appraisal skills.  By the end of the workshop, participants will be introduced to the following processes:  

·         Formulating  an appropriate research question

·         Planning the review (developing protocol)

·         Literature searching

·         Study selection

·         Data extraction

·         Quality assessment - critical appraisal of data

·         Synthesis of data

·         Dissemination of results

 

Dr Danijela Serbic is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her teaching is primarily in the area of clinical and health psychology, and research methods and analyses. Her research focuses on the role of psychology in chronic pain. Danijela is a member of the Division for Academics, Researchers and Teachers of the British Psychological Society, and she is a Fellow of the HEA. She is also a committee member of the Society for Back Pain Research.
