Planning and conducting interviews and focus groups

Wednesday, 18 April 2018

This session will take a practical approach to introducing key considerations for the use of interviews and focus groups in research. It will cover choosing the right type of interview or focus group for your research question, ethical considerations, and communicating well with your participants. The workshop will focus upon semi-structured approaches and include practical activities on designing a semi-structured interview schedule, and running a focus group.

Alana James is Lecturer in the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the British Psychological Society Undergraduate Education Committee.
