Doctoral Supervising and Examining Remotely – meeting the challenges of working under Covid19

Friday, 05 June 2020

This session is intended to support colleagues through the challenges of supervising and examining doctorates online. Two key presenters, Dr Gill Houston, Chair of the UKCGE and Dr Matthew Sillence, Lecturer in Postgraduate Education and Training, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of East Anglia, will lead the discussions.  Gill will give a short overview of suggestions for conducting vivas remotely, while Matthew will share experiences of and thoughts on supervising at a distance. This will be followed by questions from participants to the panel, which includes Dr Julie Reeves, Dr Martin Gough and Prof Pam Denicolo with Gill and Matthew.

For the panel discussion it will be most useful if prospective participants send questions in advance, and/or indicate if there are any issues you would like addressed, particularly if there are any sensitive issues that you would prefer were dealt with anonymously during the session.  Please email any questions or concerns to katie.tindle@srhe.ac.uk by June 1st.
