Professor of Higher Education DEPARTMENT

are invited for the post of Associate Professor of Higher Education to be based
at the Department of Education, Norham Gardens, Oxford. The post is full-time
and, upon completion of a successful review, permanent. The appointment will be
made in association with a Fellowship at Linacre College. In exceptional cases,
the title of full Professor may be awarded on appointment. The
University wishes to appoint a candidate whose main research and teaching
experience is in the area of higher education. The main duties of the post will
be: to contribute to the department’s strong research profile in future
research assessment exercises through his or her own programme of publications
and research funding, to contribute to teaching on Masters courses and to their
further development, to supervise graduate students in the broad area of higher
education, and to contribute to the research-related activities of the higher
education research group. The
successful candidate will have a doctorate in an area of relevance to the post,
successful experience of social scientific research in the field of higher
education, a proven track-record of high quality publications in higher
education and a good record of funded research. She or he will have the ability
to obtain and manage research grants and manage contract research staff and a
strong record of collaboration and teamwork. She or he will also have a
strong background of teaching higher education courses and successful
experience of teaching high achieving graduate students, including doctoral
students. The closing
