CALL FOR SPECIAL ISSUE PROPOSALS, The British Educational Research Journal

Closing date 21st Sept

The editors of the British Educational Research Journal (BERJ) intend to publish a number of special issues during their tenure. They are therefore seeking proposals from people interested in guest-editing a special issue of the journal, to be published in either 2019 or 2020.

There will be a two-step process.

  1. We are seeking expressions of interest, of up to 1,000 words, outlining the topic/theme for the special issue; a rationale explaining why that topic/theme is important, and why BERJ would be an appropriate journal for it; an indication of possible contributors and contributions; and a timeline that would work for the guest editor(s).

  2. The editors will review these expressions of interest, and will invite a small number to be developed into full proposals, which will need to include abstracts from contributors.
All contributions to special issues will go through the standard review process, which means that acceptance of individual contributions is not guaranteed. The editors will work closely with the guest editors during this process.

Expressions of interest should be submitted to publications@bera.ac.uk by Friday 21 September 2018. Invitations for full proposals will be issued by the end of October 2018.
Decisions will be made by the editors no later than January 2019.

Please feel free to contact the editors, via publications@bera.ac.uk, if you have any further questions. This call for proposals is also available on the BERA website.

Best wishes,

David Aldridge, Gert Biesta, Ourania Filippakou & Emma Wainwright
Editors, British Educational Research Journal (BERJ)
