Pathologies of Professionalism in Higher Education Research Colloquium

25th April 2019

The academic professional is often described as being in crisis, or under threat. Significant and intensifying challenges in the higher education environment are associated with sector expansion, public funding reduction, alternative forms of provision and new forms of accountability and accreditation which are reshaping the ‘professional mandate’

Against this backdrop, the colloquium will examine contemporary understandings of professionalism in the academic context and explore new concepts and theories in relation to academic professionalism to express contemporary dilemmas and possibilities.

Based at Liverpool Hope University, the Center for Education and Policy Analysis (CEPA) aims to support and enhance research in the areas of educational research, policy, and practice.  Through this colloquium we are launching a new interdisciplinary research programme and hope to connect with other researchers and stakeholders and build a network for ongoing research and dialogue in this important area.
