Purpose: This seminar has two key purposes. Firstly it will share the findings of a series of exploratory meetings that were funded by the SRHE Donald Bligh fund, which examined the situation of newer researchers in higher education (NRHEs). Secondly it aims to help existing newer researchers locate themselves in relation to the broader academic field of higher education research as well as higher education policy. The aim of the seminar is to identify the possible challenges connected with forging a career in this field of research and the diverse opportunities available.
Audience for the seminar: The seminar is aimed at newer researchers who are working in the sub-field of higher education, but it may also be of interest to supervisors and those researching newer researchers. Each research theme will briefly report on its findings followed by discussion with participants, and by a participant career-related activity. Before the seminar, all participants will be asked to provide brief responses to a short list of questions to help prepare for participation in the event.
