Participant feedback revealed this to have been an exceptionally well received event. Dr YannLebeaupresented Parallel trends in policy and policy research on higher education in Africa – a fascinating account of his bibliographic analysis of policy and academic sources covering a 30-year period. Discussing trends and future directions of policy research in higher education in Africa, and occasionally drawing on his own experiences as the editor of the Journal of Higher Education in Africa,he illustrated both the complex relationship between international development agendas and research paradigms, and the international division of work in policy research. Equally interesting was Mala Singh’spresentation, Internationalisation in African Higher Education: New terms of engagement? Professor Singh spoke about new developments and trends in internationalisation debates in African higher education and on the possibilities and conditions for greater local control and benefit.
