Interest in matters relating to equality, diversity and inclusion in higher education has       increased radically over the past few years. Yet, theorisations of experiences of       disabilities and chronic illnesses in academia are still far between.

Ableism in Academia edited by Nicole Brown and Jennifer Leigh and published by UCL Press on 5 October, provides an interdisciplinary outlook on the experience of ableism that has been missing.

In this online event, delegates will be able to discuss the experiences of disabilities and chronic illnesses within the context of neoliberal academia.

The discussants are Professor Dilly Fung from the London School of Economics and Political Science, the editors, Dr Nicole Brown from UCL Institute of Education and Dr Jennifer Leigh from the University of Kent, as well as two of the contributors to the book, Elisabeth Griffiths, Associate Professor at Northumbria University and Dr El Spaeth from the University of Glasgow.
