Overview
The purpose of this workshop is to discuss employability within universities focusing on:
Part 1: Understanding employability within the context of universities
1. Conceptualisation of employability within the context of current research to drive student outcomes
2. The role of work experience in driving enhanced employability outcomes for students
3. Critical success factors that make such interventions effective
4. Best practice and insights from primary research into active practitioners in the field
Part 2: Case study: Scaling Employability programmes in practice
1. Introduction to university context and key challenges
2. Key work experience interventions and programmes employed
3. Outcomes and findings from programme implementation
4. Recommendations and learnings for other practitioners

Speaker bios
Vincent Fitzsimmons is Chief Product and Strategy Officer at The Intern Group, responsible for creating solutions to broaden accessibility of international employability programmes. A recent MBA graduate from Strathclyde University, he has conducted extensive primary research into the employability field, both through an analysis of current literature and primary research across various institutions and geographies. Vincent will be sharing his findings within this session.
Farzana Karim-Haji brings decades of hands-on experience in university and policy leadership, including hands-on experience leading and scaling experiential learning programmes to prepare students for international internships and research projects. Through this work, she has shared and presented on successful programs with partners and funders alike. Farzana will discuss her real experiences on developing and scaling effective employability programmes.
David Lloyd is Cofounder & CEO of The Intern Group. He set up The Intern Group to make international internships a normal part of education after his own experience (and challenges) doing an international internship in Latin America. David will be speaking about his experiences in partnering with universities and employers to improve access to employability solutions for their students, including a recent pilot with MIT.
