Overview< /span>

The event will focus on the eme rging findings from a collaborative research proje ct\, funded by the UKRI’s Policy Support Fund and endorsed by the Office for Students (OfS)\, which reported findings and recommendations for reinforc ing and enhancing the OfS’s Standards of Evidence for evaluating Access and Participation Plans (APP s)\, and insights for strengthening evaluation evi dence\, collectively and individually\, amongst a diverse group of NERUPI member higher education pr oviders (HEPs). Standards of evidence provide a co mmon language and support capability building but need to reflect the context that they are designed to support. The evolution of APP strategies along with changes in the HE landscape suggest it is ti me for enhancements to the Standards to reflect th e opportunities for data and evaluation and the ty pes of learning providers are seeking to inform th eir investment decisions. The event will include a n overview of the research\, followed by reflectio ns from diverse collaborating HEPs and a discussio n about the implications and recommendations for t he OfS Standards of Evidence and future APP evalua tion policy and practice.

Annette H ayton: Annette convenes NERUPI (Network for Evaluati ng and Researching University Participation Interv entions) which has over 80 members from higher and further education. She has many years of experien ce in managing activities designed to support succ essful progression to higher education as well as developing strategies to ensure that all students have a positive experience of university study.

Joanne Mo ore: Joanne is a dedicated researcher with extensive experience of research and evaluation into system atic educational disadvantage\, and equity in acce ss to success in post-compulsory qualifications. H er research expertise extends across various metho dologies and approaches\, enabling a holistic unde rstanding of complex issues within higher educatio n.

Jasm in Burnage: Jasmin is the Impact and Evaluation Mana ger at the University of East London. As part of t he What Works Team\, she leads the monitoring\, ev aluation and learning frameworks for the Universit y’s access and participation plan.

Jonathan S chulte: Jonathan is the Education Evaluation L ead for the London School of Economics and Politic al Science. He heads the institution’s evaluation work\, including for the Access and Participation Plan and Education and Student Experience Strategy – coordinating\, support and conducting research and evaluation.
