DESCRIPTION:Facilitated and chaired by: Dr Dylan Williams who
is the co-convenor of the Multilingual University
Network. For more details about the network and it
 s activities\, please click here. \n \n \n \n Over
 view\n \n \n \n Linguistic\, cultural\, and episte
mic diversity is an increasingly important concern
for higher education researchers\, educators\, an
d practitioners working in multilingual and intern
ationalised university contexts. This event brings
together three complementary perspectives on incl
usion\, exploring how universities can recognise d
 iverse knowledge\, languages\, identities\, and ex
periences while creating more equitable learning e
nvironments.\n \n \n \n The event opens with Dr Ti
ppu Sheriff\, whose presentation\, Making Diversit
y Count: Fixing the Leaky Pipeline\, examines the
underrepresentation of minority and marginalised s
cientists within chemical sciences curricula. Draw
 ing on an RSC-funded cross-institutional project\,
he will demonstrate how inclusive curriculum reso
urces and diverse scientific role models can chall
enge established representations and contribute to
addressing the “leaky pipeline” into postgraduate
  study and academic careers.\n \n \n \n Dr Jennife
r J. MacDonald will then explore Supporting Lingui
stic Diversity in English-Medium Instruction (EMI)
Contexts via the Universal Design for Learning (U
DL) Framework. Her presentation considers how UDL
can support multilingual learners by embedding fle
xibility into EMI course design and moving beyond
 deficit-based approaches to language support.\n \n
  \n \n Finally\, Dr Sarah Hopkyns’ presentation\,
Whose University? Language\, Belonging and Decolon
iality in Multilingual Higher Education\, examines
  how language\, identity\, and university spaces s
hape students’ sense of belonging. Drawing on rese
arch from the UAE\, she considers the dominance of
English and the potential for translanguaging and
decolonial approaches to create more inclusive mu
 ltilingual environments.\n \n \n \n Together\, the
  presentations highlight the interconnected dimens
ions of curriculum representation\, linguistic inc
 lusion\, belonging\, and decoloniality\, fostering
dialogue and collaboration towards more equitable
  and inclusive higher education.\n \n \n \n Schedu
