Online, Friday 14th or Tuesday 18th July 2023 SRHE’s new life-limited network, Higher Education And The COVID-19 Pandemic (HEC19), brings together researchers and practitioners from a range of theoretical, disciplinary and national backgrounds who are engaged in critical studies of the experience, impact and longer-term implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global higher education sector. Our HEC19 summer showcase will build on the insights and ideas shared during our launch event for the network held on 24 April 2023, and will focus on pedagogy and the COVID-19 pandemic. We are interested in research on and experiences of practice addressing such subjects as: - The implementation of hybrid working across HEIs, and between different staff groups
- Hyflex, flipped, and hybrid approaches to teaching and learning
- Innovations in/challenges around distance learning and TEL
- The impact of pandemic-related changes on student attendance, participation, engagement, and expectations
- Personalised learning experiences within large-scale institutional responses
- The coexistence of physical and digital workspaces in HE
- Subject-specific pedagogical changes and concerns; for example, the impact of the pandemic on courses which are heavily practice-based
- How conceptions of emergency shape pedagogical practices since the onset of the pandemic
- Virtual exchanges, virtual internships, and other integrations of work
We invite 15-minute presentations on these or other topics relating to pedagogical developments and challenges since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This event is intended to be a space of sharing new research and practice, an opportunity to connect with others working in these areas, and a basis from which to shape the HEC19 network priority areas of interest going forward. To express your interest in participating, please e-mail network co-convenors Dr Kate Carruthers Thomas, Birmingham City University (Kate.Thomas@bcu.ac.uk) and Dr Charikleia Charoula Tzanakou, Oxford Brookes University (ctzanakou@brookes.ac.uk), copying Katie Tindle (katie.tindle@srhe.ac.uk) with: - Your full name and affiliation
- A brief overview of your intended contribution (150-250 words)
- Your availability on 14th and 18th July for an online event (approx. 2 hours)
Please contact us by 8 June 2023 and we will confirm the details of the session as soon as possible thereafter. |
