The government’s recent education green paper makes a direct link between social mobility and employability, and encourages institutions to make this connection.  This session show cases  current research which links widening participation with employability, and provides space for discussion of what further research needs doing to support this agenda.  We already have three excellent speakers which investigate the links between WP and employability:

Professor Ann-Marie Bathmaker:  Professor of Vocational and Higher Education. University of Birmingham
Social Class and Graduate Pathways: social stasis or social mobility?
Dr Ciaran Burke, Lecturer in Sociology, Plymouth University

Dr Heike Behle, Research Fellow,  Institute for Employment Research, University of Warwick

Nicola Turner MBE, Head of Skills, HEFCE
