At last year’s Newer Researchers conference there were some great presentations and posters, many with more data and research to follow. We thought we should build on this opportunity by hosting a mid-year online symposium whereby we catch-up with some of last year’s presenters and see how their research has developed. In the morning session of this symposium 6x15 minute slots are available to those who presented at the 2015 Newer Researchers Conference. After lunch 6x5 minute slots are available to those submitted abstracts to the 2016 NR conference to give a brief taster of the work they will be presenting at conference.

The symposium will offer a great opportunity to reflect on how your research has developed over the past 6 months and share these with fellow higher education researchers. Furthermore, it will offer insights into what to look forward to at the December conference. The symposium is free and will be on the 13th July 2016. Every session will be recorded and made freely available to all members. All abstracts will be published in the symposium proceedings and made available online.

An application for the online symposium is simple and requires a 200-word abstract. Specifically:

For the research updates: a 200-word abstract detailing how your research has moved forwards since the conference and what you will be focusing on for in your presentation.

For the ‘research teasers’: a 200-word abstract detailing the research you intend presenting at NR conference this year.

Selection will be based on:

  1. Reviewers’ scores for the NR 2015 conference abstract (morning sessions only);
  2. Quality of the 200-word abstract (both morning and afternoon).

Focus of presentation

Missing or poorly presented. No clear aims of the session or what is expected from it.

Aims of the session presented but not completely clear or unrealistic.
