This workshop is intended for experienced, new and aspiring doctoral examiners. It provides an opportunity to share best practice as well as any reservations/ trepidations/caveats and success stories you may have in relation to the challenges that arise when assessing progress or during the final examination (thesis and viva).
The workshop will take the form of a guided tour of the process and procedures of assessment at doctoral level, including the confirmation/ upgrading process, examining the thesis and the candidate during the viva, using a range of case studies and vignettes drawn from our experience and that of others. This will include presenting you with some challenging situations to raise issues and aid discussion. Please feel free to send by 17th June any issues you have concerns about or have come across that you would like to be discussed. These can be presented anonymously or by you in person
