Have you ever thought about writing a grant, but you just didn’t know where to start? Or have you written grants which never get funded? This session will help you to think about what you should do or do differently for successful grant applications.

The session will focus particularly on providing guidance to Early and Mid-Career researchers in developing their grant writing skills. Writing grants is never easy but it can be enjoyable, fulfilling, frustrating, nail-bitingly time-pressured as well as exciting. In this online interactive session, we will:

1.      Explore the key elements one should considering when writing grant applications;

2.      Invite you to share your motivations for writing grants and to consider how this can in-turn have an impact on the way you approach writing grants;

3.      Consider how you can improve your grant writing through peer feedback;

4.      Share insights and experiences into what makes a fundable grant .

The session will be facilitated by Dr Anesa Hosein, Senior Lecturer in Higher Education (University of Surrey) and Dr Namrata Rao, Principal Lecturer in Education (Liverpool Hope University).

Anesa Hosein is a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education at the University of Surrey. She enjoys writing grants and has had more rejections than acceptances! She is also a regular reviewer for several grant bodies including ESRC, BAICE, ALDinHE, SRHE and some International Government Research Schemes.

Namrata Rao is a Principal Lecturer in Education at Liverpool Hope University.
