For many people, having to make presentations is an uncomfortable (and inevitable) addition to their everyday work, whether that be sharing research with peers, teaching, representing yourself in an interview or promotion, or as an element of securing funding.
Following a brief presentation, this participatory workshop aims to help delegates feel confident in their abilities to communicate their points effectively. It is particularly aimed at those attending and presenting at the 2022 SRHE Conference.
Although we will be focussing on presenting online, many of the concepts we will be discussing will be applicable for in person presentations. We will cover:
- Structuring a presentation with clarity of purpose
- Getting the most out of your materials
- Dealing with hiccups
- Presenting in practice
Attendees will have the opportunity to practice these skills by making a short presentation during the session, receive feedback and share best practice with the group. An added benefit is the chance to meet other members of the HE research community and learn about their work.
