The Student Access and Experience Network encompasses all aspects of student life, from access to experience and success including academic, social, welfare and support. Bringing together students, academics, professional services, researchers and sector stakeholders the network provides a forum for researching the experiences of higher education across various types of provision and modes of study. The network also explores the structural inequalities that impact on the experiences of all students in Higher Education.

The effect of ethnicity, gender and class on student identities and concepts of possible selves will underpin explorations of issues such as: access; funding and financial support; recruitment, admissions and student choice; transitions and first-year experiences; pedagogies, curriculum and assessment practices to support all students; student life and students affairs; and graduate progression.

The Network aims to provide a supportive space within which participants can share experiences and explore strategies to enhance student success and address inequalities, driving research that enable all students to grow, develop and prepare for life and work in the 21st Century.

The Student Access and Experience Network previously operated as the Student Experience Network and the Access and Widening Participation Network. These networks were merged in summer 2019.
