Professor Joëlle Fanghanel

With extensive experience of teaching and learning in higher education, and a research record that has significantly reconceptualized approaches to teaching and learning, Joelle Fanghanel graduated in France with a BA in Literature and Linguistics, and a Masters in Comparative Literature. She worked as qualified translator for a few years early in her career.

She has held senior university positions and led institution-wide strategic projects in both teaching and learning, and research, in the UK and abroad. As an HE consultant, she has been leading initiatives to set-up international campuses, and to strengthen and renew portfolios at international level.

She is a former President of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (USA), a Principal Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a completer of the Senior Executive Fellow Program, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  She was awarded the CEO of Year (CEO of the Year Awards 2025) in the Executive Education Industry in 2025.
