In 1976, SRHE established Studies in Higher Education. This year, with the support of our publisher, Taylor & Francis Group, we’re celebrating the 50th Anniversary with two special publications.

The first of these publications is now available. Eight scholars from around the world were invited to choose a previously published article from the Journal’s history. Each discusses what it contributed and how it has shaped scholarly debate up to the present day.

The Collection will be paired with a special 50th Anniversary Issue of the Journal: 17 new research articles, introduced by an extended Editorial from Professor Creso Sá, Professor Maria Slowey and Dr Summer Cowley, tracing how Studies has evolved over five decades. That issue will soon be available via the Journal’s website and to subscribers.

Together, the two publications look both backwards and forwards: at the ideas that built the field, and at where higher education research is heading.
