Professor Mantz Yorke

Appointed January 2008

Following a varied career in teaching, teacher education and staff development in higher education, Mantz Yorke became a senior manager at the then Liverpool Polytechnic, during which time he undertook sponsored research studies, becoming Professor of Higher Education. He spent a couple of years on secondment as Director of Quality Enhancement at the former Higher Education Quality Council, before returning to Liverpool John Moores University in a research role, running research and development projects focusing on the student experience, and editing Studies in Higher Education. On retirement he became Visiting Professor in the Department of Educational Research at Lancaster University. He is now his partner’s carer, which has precluded further engagement in higher education, but he has been able to keep his brain active, publishing three volumes of poetry.
