
Professor Marcia Devlin

Professor Marcia Devlin AM is Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership and an Honorary Professor at Macquarie University. A former Australian university Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor, she is an internationally recognised expert in teaching and learning, digital education, equity and leadership. With colleagues, Professor Devlin has won over $AUD6 million in external competitive research, project and other funds to undertake theoretical and practical investigations into higher education and has delivered over 120 invited addresses across 10 countries.
Her publication record incorporates over 330 publications, comprising refereed articles, commissioned reports for government, universities and professional associations, and newspaper articles, including her own newspaper column for over 20 years. Widely read and cited, she has an h-index of 40. In 2023, the Australian government awarded her a Member of the Order of Australia, for significant services to higher education and to women. Professor Devlin is a member of numerous Boards including the Editorial Advisory Board of Studies in Higher Education and is proud to be an elected Lifelong Fellow of the Society for Research in Higher Education.
