Rosemary Deem is Emerita Professor of HE Management at Royal Holloway, Dean of History and Social Science (2009-11): Vice-Principal Education (2011-17); VP Teaching Innovation & Equality (2017-19); Doctoral School Dean (2014-19). At Bristol University, Postgraduate Dean (2004-2006), and Faculty Research Director (2007-2009). At Lancaster University HoD Educational Research (1992-1994), Dean of Social Sciences (1994-1997) and Graduate School Director (1998-2000).
Fellow, UK Academy of Social Sciences 2006 and elected Member of Academia Europaea since 2024. Co-Convenor ECER Network 22. Co-editor, Higher Education (Springer). Awarded OBE in 2013 for services to Higher Education & Social Science, 2013. 2015-2018 Chair, UK Council for Graduate Education. Chair of Trustees, Sociological Review Foundation since 2020. Research interests include higher education policy, governance, management and leadership; inequality, diversity and inclusion in educational organisations, and doctoral education.
